Featured Friday: ReDeFindVintage

I don't always find vintage jewelry to be my style. But when an artist takes vintage items and turns them into jewelry, the end result is often something I could wear! Whether you're looking for something simple or elaborate, she's got you covered. She also has a wide array of jewelry types--brooches, rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and more! Whether you're shopping for yourself or someone else, it's likely that you'll find something that fits the bill at ReDeFindVintage!

Vintage Match Made in Heaven: Apple Dumplin'

Today is my middle sister's birthday, so I went looking for vintage items from her birth year. It seems that Strawberry Shortcake was at the height of her popularity when middle sis was born, though the toys stayed popular (and scented!) for long enough that she played with them as well. Looking back at them, I'm struck by how much Apple Dumplin' reminds me of my sister's daughter. So enjoy these Apple Dumplin' items from Etsy vintage sellers, in honor of my middle sister! Happy birthday, Sarah! :)

Featured Friday: Geek-A-Bye-Baby

Two of my geeky friends just had their first baby, and I made him a sleeping Cthulhu crocheted hat. But I know I'll have lots of other gift giving opportunities for this cute little one, and Geek-A-Bye-Baby is likely to be my first stop! Blankets, changing pads, bibs, clothing, and more, all for the geeky baby (or the baby with geeky parents) in your life. The fandoms that Geek-A-Bye-Baby spans are extensive--Star Wars, Firefly/Serenity, Doctor Who, comics, and pirates are among their number.

Geeky parents will love the many options for dressing and caring for their babies, and geeky babies will love the bright colors and soft fabrics used! Keep the whole geeky family happy and comfortable with baby items from Geek-A-Bye-Baby!

Featured Friday: ShayDDesign

I recently learned that one of the baristas at the coffee shop we frequent has an Etsy shop where she sells her jewelry: Shay D Design. Shay makes all kinds of beautiful jewelry pieces, but her feather earrings are what always catch my attention. Some are in muted colors, while others, like the pair shown here, are bright and vibrant.

In addition to these earrings, I also really love her necklaces with pendants made from sheet iron. The rustic finish gives these pieces a striking color, and their unique design makes them an instant conversation piece! Be sure to poke through the sections at Shay D Design, because Shay has so many different jewelry pieces to offer that I can't do all of them justice in this short blog post!

Featured Friday: The Great Northern

The Great Northern is one of those shops where I want every single thing in the shop! If you like Twin Peaks too, you may feel the same way. The talented hands behind The Great Northern make embroidered and cross-stitched wall hangings featuring quotes from Twin Peaks. While my hubbie is partial to "Black as midnight on a moonless night," I'm a fan of Audrey Horne, and her great quote "I'm Audrey Horne and I get what I want!"

Printed with a variety of different designs on some stunning colors of T-shirts, dresses, skirts, scarves, and hoodies, all of these things would get worn a LOT if they were in my closet! My only problem right now seems to be picking out which one I want the most!

In addition to clothing, Celtic Fantasy also offers a small selection of prints, with somewhat more elaborate designs than those printed on clothing items.

Featured Friday: Monster Kookies

Monster Kookies calls herself the Mad Scientist of Polymer Clay, and I'd have to say she's completely right! I am simply in awe of the level of detail and awesomeness that goes into all of the stuff in her shop, but the sculptures are what really caught my attention. Just look at this little mechanical owl! AMAZING!

In addition to the beautiful custom sculptures, Monster Kookies also makes necklaces, rings, cufflinks, and magnets. And lest you think it's just another steampunk shop, she also has bright and colorful items made to look like cake and candy and brains! And all of this is made from polymer clay!
