Featured Friday: Polarity

Recently, I got a bonus at work and decided to use it on an Etsy shopping spree, buying a bunch of stuff that I've been eyeing for a while. So my Featured Friday posts for a few weeks will be about the sellers who made the stuff that I bought!

I've mentioned Polarity on this blog before, but it's a shop that had always been on my wish list, not my purchased list. So one of their necklaces was one of the first items that I spent my bonus on!

Of course, I couldn't get just one. The magnetic lockets are absolutely brilliant, in that they let you switch out the front of the locket so that you can match just about anything. I ordered an extra set of fronts, which gave me enough to wear a different one each day for an entire week, and to match just about any outfit I could come up with!

Featured Friday: Empira

Recently, I got a bonus at work and decided to use it on an Etsy shopping spree, buying a bunch of stuff that I've been eyeing for a while. So my Featured Friday posts for a few weeks will be about the sellers who made the stuff that I bought!

Who doesn't want to fly the TARDIS? Or the Millennium Falcon, the Enterprise, or a Nimbus 2000? Or drive Ecto-1 or an AT-AT? If you like geeky things, and want to proclaim your affection on the back of your car, check out Empira. This Bellingham, Washington, based Etsy shop makes these and many more car emblems, as well as fun felt toys, like soft lightsabers--perfect for the kids who want to have lightsaber duels and the parents who want to make sure they aren't hitting each other hard.

Unsurprisingly, I chose the TARDIS emblem for my car. Though my car isn't blue, there are some days when I feel like the trunk might actually be bigger on the inside ...

Featured Friday: Bender's Wood and Brass

Today marks the last Friday before Norwescon, and thus the last Featured Friday featuring an artist who will be attending the convention. This Friday's artist is Bender's Wood and Brass, who makes gorgeous replica weapons, perfect for a steampunk costume or display in your home! All of the weapons are replicas only, with no firing mechanisms, though they are far more artistic than the sorts of toy weapons you might play with.

Check out more of Bender's Wood and Brass work online or at Norwescon, next weekend, from April 17-20, at the SeaTac Doubletree.

April Birthstone: Diamonds and Opals

Diamonds may be April's birthstone, but sometimes an opal is a better choice, especially when it's a in a fun diamond shape!

Featured Friday: La Vie Macabre

This week's Featured Friday is another jewelry artist who will be in the Vendor's Room for Norwescon. La Vie Macabre creates lovely and dark jewelry pieces and hair accessories. Her hair spiders are absolutely adorable (though not for the arachnaphobic among us), but I really love this ankh rosary--it would make a perfect addition to my collection of ankh rosaries!

Check out more of La Vie Macabre's items online or at Norwescon, April 17-20, at the SeaTac Doubletree!
